Project Overview

About this project

CascadiaSTR is a Pacific Northwest short-term rental company that needed a brand-level website to compete with established players in their market. We built a polished, fast site with a frictionless booking flow and a local SEO strategy that started generating organic traffic from the day of launch.

The Challenge

What was holding them back

Before we started, we ran a full audit of the existing site and the competitive environment. These were the core problems we needed to solve.

  • 1New brand with no online presence: needed to compete immediately against established STR operators.
  • 2No clear brand identity, required design direction alongside the development.
  • 3Booking flow needed to feel premium and trustworthy to justify above-average nightly rates.
  • 4Local SEO from scratch in a competitive Pacific Northwest vacation rental market.

Our Solution

What we built and why

Our approach was methodical: fix the technical foundations first, then focus on design and conversion. Every decision was driven by a measurable business result. Anything that did not move one of those numbers was left out of scope.

Start a similar project
  • Full brand and web design: logo direction, colour palette, and typography system.
  • Conversion-focused property showcase with high-quality imagery and clear booking CTAs.
  • Local SEO strategy from day one: location schema, regional keyword targeting, and sitemap setup.
  • Fast, lightweight WordPress build with custom Gutenberg blocks for easy content management.
  • Trust-building elements: reviews integration, property highlights, and host story section.
  • Ongoing WordPress maintenance and support since launch, so the booking flow and rankings stay intact as plugins and WordPress core get updated.
  • A post-update check on the booking flow found some Gutenberg block elements not behaving as expected on the frontend. The affected block markup and styling were adjusted and the full booking flow retested on both desktop and mobile before being signed off.
  • Image and asset sizes were reviewed and optimized to keep the booking flow fast, since a slow-loading gallery is exactly what a short-term rental site can least afford.

Client-Reported Results

CascadiaSTR: by the numbers

CascadiaSTR launched in 2024 after a 5 weeks build. The figures below are the change the client reported after that launch. We publish the client name and a link to the live site with every case study, so the site behind these numbers can be checked.
